As a fun fact I'll say, that the color pallete is taken from photos taken at the depths of the Baltic sea. They have that characteristic green color to them.

charcoal is a great medium, but rather messy as you pointed out. Your shading and detail in the foreground helps create depth in your work, the light in the background helps to define that depth. Great job!
